About the Client
Grace Lodge is a residential home for the elderly situated in Hinchley Wood, Surrey. The home has been running since 1989, is family run and puts a great focus on the quality of care provided.
We were approached by the client for website design from scratch. The client had already purchased the domain but had displayed an 'under construction' page for almost 4 years.
Specification
The website would primarily be used to generate business via the internet and the main target audience of the website would be the older generations that are either looking for a residential home for themselves or a close relative. For this reason the client wanted a very simple website that was easy to navigate and to read. Text needed to be large and clearly legible and the design not over-complicated so that it was obvious how to traverse the website.
The website required separate pages for the following:
- Facilities - a description of the residential home and facilities available which would include an image gallery for each area
- Service - a description of the services and quality of service available
- Testimonials - a selection of positive feedback from both residents and family that illustrates the care based service
- Resources - a section that would allow visitors to view recent inspection reports, regulatory bodies, view recent and planned activities, and download quarterly newsletters
- Contact Us - contact information and an online enquiry form
The client had an existing company branding used for an external sign and leaflets that they wanted to keep. It was therefore crucial that the website design incorporated the red and yellow colour scheme, correct fonts and company logo. A minor problem we encountered was that the logo had to be recreated from scratch as the original designer had since ceased trading and was therefore unable to provide the necessary files. We therefore had to reverse engineer the logo design and ensure it was almost identical to the current one in use.
